Select Board · Meeting of January 26, 2026
Sunderland Select Board lets highway department deficit-spend as snow budget runs dry. The board voted 3-0 Monday after Highway Superintendent George reported spending $8,436.51 of his $14,000 snow and ice wages budget, leaving about $5,500 with two months of winter left; Chair Nathaniel Waring said the vote means "he's good to go" once funds run out. The board also approved a $3,773.75 Franklin County Animal Control contract.
In a joint session, Treasurer Heather flagged a possible 14.4 percent health insurance premium increase, Town Clerk Wendy said election costs will roughly double for three 2027 elections, and officials said the OPEB retiree health trust is nearing a $500,000 milestone. A vote giving Lauren authority over the stalled Graves building renovation was pushed to the board's next meeting.
