SUNDERLAND — The Selectboard and Finance Committee reviewed FY27 budget requests from the library, fire department, and building inspector. The library requested $8,000 for a non-benefitted staff member to support a sensory-friendly day, with grant funding ending April 30, 2026. Fire Chief Sam Benjamin requested wage increases for firefighters earning $17 per hour and protective PFAS gear funding; the department hopes to purchase three sets this year instead of two.

Health insurance costs are projected to increase 8.5 percent. Building Inspector Tom Quinlan requested a permit fee increase from $10 to $12 to offset software costs, to be voted at the next meeting. The assessor consulting contract with Roy Bishop increased to $9,500 annually, up from $3,500 last year.
